Martha's Vineyard Bank Charitable Foundation is committed to creating a lasting impact by giving back to our community, investing in the next generation, and supporting local students as they pursue higher education.
Since 2009, Martha's Vineyard Bank Charitable Foundation has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships to students from Martha's Vineyard and Falmouth, helping to ease the cost of college, expand access to new opportunities, and enable students to stay focused on their education and future careers. By supporting local students in this way, we are strengthening the communities we serve, today and for generations to come.
2026 Scholarship Recipients

2026 Ronald H. Rappaport Scholar
The award recognizes an individual who embodies the full spirit of Ron Rappaport's legacy: a commitment to education, civic life, and the long-term vitality of Martha's Vineyard.
Leah Palmer
Leah oversees the English Language Learning (ELL) programming for Martha’s Vineyard Public Schools’ Adult Learning Program. In 2020, Leah co-founded the Communication Ambassador Partnership of Martha’s Vineyard, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding language access across the Island.
Leah is currently pursuing her Ed.D. in Education Leadership and Policy at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College.
2026 Emerging Leadership Awardees
The Emerging Leadership Awards recognize individuals at earlier stages of their academic or professional journeys who demonstrate exceptional promise, purpose, and service.
Noah Manning
Noah Manning is a rising junior at Cornell University, majoring in Environmental Studies with a minor in American Indian and Indigenous Studies. Since 2021, he has worked with the Natural Resources Director for the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head. This summer, he will serve as Interim Lab Manager at the Hatchery. Noah plans to return to the Island after graduation and hopes to become a leader in both the Tribe and Island communities.
Camilla Prata
Camilla Prata will enter the four-year Pharm.D. program at the University of North Carolina in September 2026. She earned her B.S. in Nutrition from UMass Amherst and currently works as a nutritionist in the WIC program. As a 2017 Vision Fellow, Camilla interned at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, where she researched opioid overdoses and Naloxone use on Martha’s Vineyard.

Maggie Burke
2026 Philip J. Norton, Jr. Scholarship
A one-year award for a post-secondary student committed to pursuing a career in public service honoring Jeff Norton’s lifelong public service on Martha’s Vineyard, including his leadership roles with Vineyard Preservation Trust, Ducks Unlimited, Martha's Vineyard Bank, and as Edgartown Moderator.
Maggie, a Martha’s Vineyard native, graduated from Boston College in 2022 and completed a postbaccalaureate clinical fellowship at McLean Hospital in adolescent residential treatment. Now in her second year of a clinical psychology doctoral program at Hofstra University, she provides individual therapy, leads skills groups, conducts research, and performs neuropsychological assessments. She is also training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Maggie will soon begin a clinical externship at NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens.

College Scholarships
The Martha's Vineyard Bank Charitable Foundation will grant six $12,000 college scholarships to current high school seniors. Four (4) awards will go to residents of Martha's Vineyard, and two (2) awards to residents of Falmouth.
